My life (much like the face of my blog actually) is currently under construction. And well, when you’re not sure what to say I find it best not to say anything at all…so I haven’t for quite some time. A little hiatus is always good for the soul. But at some point you have to crawl out from under that rock, put on your big girl panties and start taking on the world again.
So here I am. Back in action.
This is my official coming out…from under the rock post (sorry I couldn’t resist).
If that was vague then mission accomplished.
Even if I could find an appropriate way to put everything into words I’m not sure I want to. I mean this IS the internet, people. Once you write it you can’t neva take it back.
One thing I won’t keep quiet about though is the Lord’s goodness because His promises are true. I know this full well!
I know for a fact that when we are weak, He is strong and when we are brokenhearted, He comes close. So close that your heart stills and your mind rests and you know you are experiencing a peace that can only come from Him. Because when you are walking through what seems like the most difficult trial of your life the smallest amount of peace doesn’t really make sense. And so I wake up everyday, tie my tennis shoes tight, channel my inner James, and do my best to consider this test of faith as pure joy because the race of perseverance is one I’m willing to run if Jesus’ fingers are interlocked with mine. And you betta belieeeeve there will be a victory in the end because the God of peace doesn’t do second place.
Dear future husband, Woah that sounds weird. This is crazy and feels extremely awkward to write, but I’ve been advised to do this… So just go with it. I pray for you…. Whoever you are, wherever you are. I pray that your heart is pure and that you’re allowing god to be the center of your life. I…
If my heart is overwhelmed and I cannot hear Your voice I’ll hold on to what is true though I cannot see If the storms of life they come and the road ahead gets steep I will lift these hands in faith I will believe.
I love coming across a great look and challenging my closet to recreate it.
I went with pants because this Georgia weather will probably not permit shorts again until Spring. I also went leopard pumps because I’m a firm believer in a little outfit sass :) Add some simple gold jewelry and a great bag and I’m ready to hit the town!
Pants-H&M, Top-Ann Taylor Loft, Poncho-H&M, Shoes-Steve Madden
Motown — Diana, Stevie, Marvin, Temptations…gangs all here!
…for the second time.
And Psalm 42.
"As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God."
Anything and everything cheetah/leopard. It’s the new black.
White decor. Obsessed. So chic. So serene.
3 years with Andrew! [WHOA.] Love you more and more everyday. (I spared everyone the PDA pictures. That’s why the picture is of just me…you’re welcome.)
The birth of sweet, sweet Turner Mark. Andrew’s sister and brother-in-law’s first little one. Love at first sight doesn’t even begin to cover it!
Are they not the most adorable family you have every seen?? But seriously.
Amy and Mark are one of THE GREATEST couples on the planet and I know that they will be the greatest parents.
Now I just need to figure out how to steal Turner for myself…I mean…babysit him…
I mean will you just look at that sweet little babe. He’s perfect.
And lastly, all of the sweet, intentional time unemployment allows me to spend with the Lord.
While sometimes I think I’m going to pull my hair out from frustration and other times I wonder if it’s possible to cry one more confused tear I know that these days are precious and numbered. These moments should be cherished because they won’t last forever. Soon enough the busyness of life will rush back in and I will desperately long for whole mornings/afternoons with nothing but coffee (more likely a giant glass of sweet tea) in one hand and Bible in the other. I am learning to be still and reminded that regardless of the challenges of life He is ALWAYS good and He is ALWAYS sovereign.
"God is good all the time, and when it appears he is not, it is be because he is Great."
1) I graduated college (fist pump) and have no idea how to sum that up and everything that goes along with it in one post. Soooo naturally I’ve been avoiding it hence avoiding this here blog.
2) I am computerless and have been since the day before my last day of college. (Fist pump again)
3) I am playing Mom 40 hours and week and it’s mother stinking exhausting. Nannying full time = birth control.
I still don’t have the motivation to attempt putting the 547589365 million thoughts in my head down on paper so that will have to wait until another day, but I thought I’d share some of the lovelies that have caught my attention recently.
"The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory."
"Every wedding is a royal wedding because we are subjects of the King of creation."
Thanks to Vision Airlines I am packing my bags and hoping a jet (I like to say that because it makes me feel glamorous) to Destin, Florida tonight for $20. Yep. You read that right. One Andrew Jackson (plus tax) is all I had to pay to get my Casper-white body to paradise.
The Lord must have been smiling down on me because not only did the flight only cost $20 and some change BUT I also don’t have class Wednesday or Thursday.
It’s pure craziness I tell you!
I’m one online test and a few hours away from the sun, the sand and 6 of my best friends.
Here is a peek into my suitcase :)
I know it’s not Easter yet so I’m not suppose to wear white but…whatever. It’s the beach. Anything goes, right?
I’m LOVE-ing statement necklaces right now. I’m one step away from wearing them with my sorostitute T shirts to class.
So naturally I would love to Live Colorfully this Spring with the Tutti Frutti Collar around my neck.
I want it.
I also want it to not be a bazillion dollars.
Someone call Kate Spade and tell her how much I love this. Because it’s true. I do, I do, I do-ooo (as much as Kel loves orange soda). BUT, with that being said I refuse to pay $145 for a necklace that looks like gum from a 25 cents machine.
Other current KS obsessions:
Now taking applications. Are you my mother sugadaddy??’
If you haven’t noticed…I’ve been a bloggin fool this week.
It may have something everything to do with the fact that my alarm clock was set for 6:30 a.m. every morning this week.
For you grown ups who are not currently squeezing every last drop that you can out of college this is totally normal.
You see 6:30 twice a day, 5 days a week. You wake when it’s still dark outside. You’re 4 hours into your day before I even wake up. To you I say, bless your sweet heart. You deserve cookies…or a cocktail. Whichever you prefer or your age allows.
The reason I’ve been up at the stinkin’ crack of dawn everyday this week — LB and I were overnight sitting for family while their parents were in Bermuda, Bahamas, come on pretty mama.
I know. Us? Babysit? Shock-errrrr.
So here is what I’ve been up to (other than blogging my life away).
Monday: Happy Pi (3.14) Day! No luck finding pie so we settled for cupcakes and brownies from Canvas Bakery.
Tuesday: Skiiiiiiip. Nothing exciting this day. I took a nap because my body was in shock.
Wednesday: Kept the boys post church tradition alive with Chick-fil-A milkshakes.
Thursday: Happy St. Patrick’s Day! We choose to celebrate with breakfast for dinner.
Yes, those are green eggs and green pancakes.
For dessert we headed on over to Chick-fil-A (for the 2nd day in a row…sorry I’m not sorry) and continued the celebration with green Ice Dreams.
Friday: I worked a 12-hour shift for the family I normally nanny. This is how I found Anna when I went to check on her taking a shower…
So then this convo inferred:
Me: “Anna, what in the WORLD are you doing??”
Anna: “What do you mean?”
Me: “Um. Well, you have lotion…in your pants.”
Anna: “Oh…that. I was stretching out my pants so I could eat more at dinner.”
Me: “Oh. Yeah, of course. Good idea.”
Just a normal day in the life.
That night the boys stayed at friend’s houses so LB and I had mommy-daddy date night (she’s the boy because she’s taller). Out date consisted of Steak’n’Shake followed by posting up on the couch to watch March Madness. The only time we moved was to our beds. Yep. We’re old.
So there you have it. Life as a mother of two.
Call me a grandma but I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited to sleep in my own bed again.
Remember when I posted this picture and was shocked the whole outfit cost less than $100?!
Well, after I learned she purchased her cute necklace at Charlotte Russe (Charlotte Russe of all places people!) I became curious. Sooooo I headed over to the CR website to scope out the scene.
I won’t vouch for the clothes (mainly because I didn’t really look at them), but their accessories were impressive considering everything below (with the exception of the clutch for $14.50) was under $10.
Not too shabby, huh?
And on top of it already being so affordable they are having a 25% off St. Patrick’s Day Sale. Yay! But it ends at midnight so take advantage.
I guess I won’t be skipping Charlotte Russe on mall trips anymore because you never know when you might find a (cheap) diamond in the rough.
I realized the other day after I blogged about this precious little one that some of my lovely followers may not know who LB is.
(That was my discrete way of saying I’m popular and people I don’t know in real life read my blog…ok fine. I’m not really popular at all, but it makes for a good excuse to blog about my sweet friend!)
So without further adieu, Laura Beth.
Also known as Diego. That would be me, aka Boots, on the left. You know, from Dora the Explorer.
(Uh yeahhhhhh. Did I mention we both babysit A LOT?)
She loves me.
And I love her.
So much so that I dressed up like the 3 little pigs with her for a Halloween party.
(I won’t embarrass the 3rd little pig with pictures, but let’s just say their name starts with A and ends with ndrew…yep. He definitely took the cake for best boyfriend that Halloween.)
Complete with snout.
Oh and one time we wore prom dresses to a Miss America party. Just because we could.
She is another roommate of the infamous Brothel, but a whole lot more than just a fellow promiscuous girl [JOKE], of course.
We met freshman year of college and were instant friends.
Shank you, Phi Mu Fraternity. We had some rough days, [drama in the streets as the bf would say] but I will be forever grateful for giving me the greatest friends a girl could ever ask for! (I feel my new post coming on…)
Anyway, back to LBeeezy. I’m talking people thought we had known each other for a lifetime when we had only known each other a few months.
These pictures are just a few of hundreds (603 on facebook to be exact) that hold a million memories and inside jokes.
Today, almost 5 years later, she’s still lucky enough to be my friend and roommate.
Just keeedding. I’m the lucky one!
In life you have silver friends and gold friends.
LB is what you call a top-of-the-line shiny, bling-blinggold friend.
Wuv you, Pebbles :) More than McDonald’s sweet tea and red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting (and that’s saying something)!
Apparently when you hit over a thousand unread items in your Google Reader it stops giving you the exact number and only says “1000+”.
Just in case anyone was wondering.
[Sidenote: If you love design and don’t read Erin Gate’s blog, Elements of Style, then your life is not complete. She’s pure genius and easily one my top 5 fav blogs to read.]
In other news—
I have jumped on the iPhone train. Thank you Verizon for finally catching up with the 21st century.
Obsession is an understatement. It’s like carrying a tiny genius (or something else that’s really cool..it’s late and I’m not feeling clever) around in my pocket. Pathetically, the new telefono has brought me great joy with all the crazy things it can do. However, what has NOT brought me great joy is trying to decide on a case.
Because I can’t make a quick decision to save. my. life.
Seriously. I can make what I eat for dinner seem life altering. I can over-think, over-analyze and over-process ANYTHING. Especially when there are 346473829 choices, which is the “case” this time. Badum tish.
As of 10:45 a.m. this morning I am officially on my last college Spring Break. Yipeeeeee! (for SB, not so much that it’s my last one ever)
And after all that big talk about leaving on the next plane for big adventures my responsible side took one look at my bank account and decided that spending every last penny I have on a ticket out of town miiiiight be a bad idea.
Sometimes you ruin all the fun, Responsible Macy.
But don’t worry, I’m still scheming and will hopefully be partaking in Spring Break-y things that don’t require an airplane.
And if not then I’m planning on having a whole lotta days that look similar to this…
On a different note—
I won’t pretend to know anything about art, but I do know that I’m in L-O-V-E with Atlanta artist, Michelle Armas’, work.
How could looking at a piece like this not add a little sunshine to your day?
Cheers to me and a week of no school!
(1. me no remember 2. bippityboppityboo 3. bippityboppityboo again 4.mckizzle aka Mary Catherine 5,6,7,8,9,10. Michelle Armas)
Unfortunately blogging has taken a backseat to this thing called life.
Need proof you say?
True Life: I have 902unread items in my Google Reader.
And that’s NOT even including all my Tumblr friends whose posts I need to catch up on.
My mother has been telling me pretty much my whole life that I do too much and go too much. But for the first time (at least out loud) I am admitting that “I’ve bitten off a little more than I can chew” sometimes.
This is me…
I’m telling you this to apologize for my absence up until now and unfortunately, but most likely, apologizing in advance for future absence.
Update on this life that is preventing me from bloggedy blogging…
School: Blah. Is it May yet??
Internship: I think the saying “trial by fire" pretty much sums up everything I’m doing.
Work: I love kids and I love dogs (really I do), but I can’t wait for the day when other people’s dogs/kids aren’t my main source of income. I mean that in the nicest way possible.
Church: My 10th graders are the bomb.com. Seriously. Spending time with them is a highlight of my week/life.
(Here we are at a retreat 2 weekends ago. I know for a FACT I was not that cute as a sophomore.)
My own Bible study group is going through the book of James and anyone who has read James knows how straight to the point and convicting it is. Just trying to soak it all in and process right now.
Boy to the friend: Andrew got accepted into the Chick-fil-A Interim Manager class! Yay!
Not that I’m surprised because he’s awesome but I’m still super proud of him. So he is downtown for the for the next 3 weeks being all businessman-y. Shaking hands and kissing babies. :)
Aaaaaaand on a really, really exciting note—a friend of mine is pregnant (yippee!).
But NOT only is she pregnant…she has asked MCK and I to decorate the nursery! We are ecstatic and having so.much.fun pulling together precious, adorable baby stuff. Tomorrow we are going to measure the room and take pictures so we can start creating inspiration boards. More to come on this and our adventures as interior designers I’m sure.
Well, that’s the cliffnotes version of my life right now.
I’ll admit to sometimes feeling overwhelmed, but as always the Lord continues to be so, so sweet in my time of need. He is always reminding me of His promises in scripture and surrounding me with encouraging family and friends.
Hope y’all are having a fantastic Tuesday! I mean it when I say I’m missing you!
